What is niebla chile?

Niebla, also known as Valdivian fog forest, is a type of forest found in the coastal regions of southern Chile, between 39ºS and 43ºS latitude. It is characterized by thick fog and mist that rises from the ocean and covers the forest, creating a unique ecosystem. The Niebla forest is known for its rich and diverse flora and fauna, including several endemic species. The forest is dominated by large trees, such as Nothofagus, Ulmo, and Canelo, and is home to a variety of birds, amphibians, and mammals. This ecosystem is also one of the most biodiverse on the planet, with more than 400 species of vascular plants, 54 species of birds, 34 species of mammals, and 16 species of amphibians. The Niebla forest is threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation, mainly due to agricultural activities, logging, and infrastructure development. Conservation actions are needed to protect this valuable ecosystem.
